Jordan Simmons Talks Trojans

Jordan Simmons

After missing Junior Day, touted lineman Jordan Simmons enjoyed an unofficial visit to USC last month.

LAS VEGAS – When Encino (Calif.) Crespi offensive lineman Jordan Simmons spent some time with the USC coaching staff late last month, the pitch was pretty simple.

The Trojans can put you in the NFL.

Simmons attended the men's basketball season finale in late February and spoke extensively with assistant coaches Ed Orgeron and James Cregg, a one-man Junior Day to make up for his absence at USC's massive event after taking an unofficial visit to California.

"It was good," Simmons said at the Badger Athletics Elite 7-on-7 Tournament held on the campus on UNLV. "He (Orgeron) was telling me about the program, what they have to offer for me, how they put the most offensive players in the NFL. I should just follow in the footsteps and come along.

"I liked it a lot."

With dozens of offers to his name – Georgia, BYU and Utah are the latest – Simmons is in no hurry to make a decision on anyone else's terms.

"I'll just narrow it down when the time comes. I'm open to anybody," he said.

"It's good for my family and everything. I'm the first kid to have all this attention. They like it. It doesn't change my focus on getting better."

What will play into that decision is Simmons' desired to graduate with a degree in graphic design.

Asked why that would his be preferred major, Simmons said, "I like to design my own sneakers."

Simmons said he will attend the upcoming Nike Camp at USC and the B2G "In the Trenches" event for linemen.
