With offers from schools in the Pac-12, SEC, ACC and others, Murphy plans to trim his list in the coming months and focus on a handful of schools by the end of summer.
"I'm going to start my narrowing down process pretty soon so it doesn't start to get really crazy," he said. "I think by summertime I will have five, maybe six schools that I'm looking at hard."
Stanford: "Stanford's pretty good, I've checked out a few times. I looked about as deeply as I could. Just the whole package they have is pretty impressive as far as the academics and the sports and just the people there."
USC: "USC was good because of the good football tradition and good, solid academic foundation as well."
Cal: "Cal was good as well because it's a good school, good area, good football program."
Oregon: "Oregon was nice too. Good football program and they're getting better and better each year it seems like. Good facilities."
And what is Murphy looking for in a school?
"I'm looking for a good solid football program that I can succeed in with people around it that I would enjoy being with," he explained. "Somewhere I can fit in with the coaches and the players, and with school, I want to earn a degree."
