Proving verbal commits can quickly change, Oregon State verbal commit Devian Shelton signed his letter of intent to the USC Trojans Wednesday.
Shelton, a 6-2, 180-pound defensive back out of Inglewood, Calif., was just recently offered by USC. But according to Scout's Kevin Carden, it was a "dream school" for the player so he soon decommitted from the Beavers to sign with the Trojans and stay close to home.
Some of Shelton's top offers came from Nebraska, Tennessee, and Washington, where he took official visits. Only as recently as Tuesday was Shelton offered by the Trojans, but it was one he didn't want to pass up.
Shelton was recruited at cornerback but can also play safety, a versatile addition to USC's Class of 2012, which also includes defensive backs Josh Shaw (a transfer from Florida), Gerald Bowman (a safety from Pierce Junior College) and Kevon Seymour from Pasadena (Calif). Muir High.
