Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) four-star cornerback Chris Hawkins was this close to committing to Stanford last month.
But an offer from USC just a day before he was going to announce for the Cardinal cause Hawkins to hold off.
On Sunday, Hawkins went with his heart, and committed to his lifelong favorite USC.
"I was all set to commit to Stanford but then when USC offered, all my life I wanted to play for the Trojans," said Hawkins. "We're a Trojan family and that's where I always wanted to go."
In the three weeks from when he was going to announce, until Sunday's conclusion of the Los Angeles NFTC, Hawkins had plenty of time to weigh the two.
"Having those three weeks gave me time to see that USC was where I always wanted to be," said Hawkins. "Everytime I went over to USC for practice, it just felt like home to me."
Sunday wasn't just about Hawkins' commitment to the Trojans, it was also about football, where he won DB MVP honors at the L.A. NFTC.
"It's been a big day for me, winning MVP, but also for my dream of playing at USC," said Hawkins.
"I'm going to start with my good friend Tahaan Goodman and recruit a bunch of other guys to USC with me," said Hawkins.
