Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne receiver A.J. Richardson was offered by Cal in late spring, the Bears highly intrigued by the all-City receiver.
Richardson returned the love to Berkeley, committing to the Bears on Friday.
"I committed to Cal today," said Richardson. "I told Coach Wes (Chandler)."
Richardson also spoke with head coach Jeff Tedford to give him the news.
"I talked to Coach Tedford and he was very happy," said Richardson.
Richardson said a number of things played a factor in his decision.
"What made them the pick was the coaches, the environment and the education and all of that," said Richardson.
Richardson said his family was also thrilled with his decision to stay in-state and play in the Pac-12.
"I'm kind of relieved too," said Richardson.
Richardson helped the Gauchos to the CIF City Section title last year with 12 touchdowns and was fellow Pac-12 commit Troy Williams (Washington) chief target.
