Tony Brown (Beaumont, Texas/Bozen) is one of two 2014 prospects that participated in the Gridiron Kings. Brown played for the Southwest team while Quin Blanding (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside) was one of the stars for the Midwest.
“It’s just a great honor to be here,” Brown said. “The older guys set the bar and I just try and play to that level. I have worked hard and think I did well out here.”
Brown, 6-foot-0 and 185-pounds, plays both safety and cornerback. According to Brown most teams prefer him at corner at this point.
“I stick to the wide receiver,” Brown said. “I am long-armed and oversized and play with a lot of aggression.”
According to Brown he’s sitting on 11 offers and waiting on others like Texas. But he knows the Longhorns will offer at an upcoming junior day after the season.
“I have 11 offers,” Brown said. “LSU was the first and that really got things started for me. Alabama, USC, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Oklahoma are some of the teams that have offered me. I have been approved by Texas but they won’t offer me until junior day and that’s a ways away.
“Right now I am open.”
Brown made it to 11 camps over the summer, including the Gridiron Kings.
"It's been busy but it's also been a blessing," Brown said.
