LaRue Weighing Visit Options

Sebastian LaRue

Now that his season has come to a close, Santa Monica (Calif.) receiver Sebastian LaRue is sorting out his options for official visits...

Football season may be over for Santa Monica (Calif.) following a 58-6 loss versus Gardena (Calif.) Serra, but receiver Sebastian LaRue knows the team left everything on the field over the past few months.

"The highlight for me was playing with my boys that I grew up with, that I've known my whole life since Pop Warner. We didn't expect to go out like this, but [his high school career] had to come to an end sometime. I am a senior and, thank God, thank my coaches, I will be moving on to the next level," he said.

For LaRue, one of the highest touted players to come out of the high school, the season wasn't just about wins and losses, but about bringing recognition to the program.

"I changed the program. No one had ever really heard about Santa Monica for football. I tried to change that in people's minds; I wanted people to know that we can play football at Santa Monica. We have always had less talent than some of the other teams we've had to face, but we've found a way to win because of our great coaches," he said.

The 5-foot-11.5, 185-pound receiver committed to USC in June and has maintained a good relationship with the coaches. He's planning on taking a few other official visits, but reiterates his Trojan commitment.

"Things with USC are going pretty good right now. I went to a couple of games. I went to USC - Oregon, and some other ones. They just have to execute. When they execute, they go out there and make a lot of plays, which is exciting to see," he said.

Recently, LaRue took his first official visit to Pullman for the Washington State - UCLA game.

"It was cold," he laughed. "It was exciting; it was definitely nice to see a different way of life, check out other places besides Southern California. I love the coaching staff up there, so it was great to go there and see those guys and see the offense in action."

No other visit plans are set yet, though he's considering officials to Texas A&M, UCLA, and Notre Dame.

"I am taking a couple of trips. To where, I don't know right now. It's up in the air. I canceled my Notre Dame visit this weekend because I wanted to focus on this playoff game, but moving forward, I am going to take some trips. I'm still committed 100%, but I'm definitely going to weigh some options out. I'll probably sit down with my family now that I have time and make a decision about what I want to do.," he said.

LaRue is still working on a plan for his announcement for National Signing Day.

"I'm talking with the other seniors on the team about what to do. We might have something at the school, we might have a big thing otherwise. We'll see," he said.
