Rachal leaves team; Brown elevated

Chicago Bears guard Chilo Rachal has been placed on the reserve/left squad list after leaving the team. Offensive lineman James Brown has been elevated to the 53-man roster.

The Chicago Bears have placed guard Chilo Rachal on the reserve/left squad list. Rachal left the team for personal reasons.

G/T James Brown has been signed from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Rachal was signed this offseason after four years with San Francisco 49ers. He started the season as the swing guard but was promoted to the starting left guard position in Week 3, after Chris Spencer struggled.

Brown (6-4, 306), a rookie out of Troy, was signed by the Bears as an undrafted free agent and was with the team throughout training camp. He played well enough in the preseason to earn a spot on the practice squad, where he's been ever since. Brown played tackle in college but has played guard with the Bears.

Spencer will likely move back to the starting left guard spot in place of Rachal. G/C Edwin Williams, who hasn't yet been active this season, will likely start dressing on game days.
