Scouting Report : Last Friday, Jalyn Holmes showed why he is one of the top juniors in the country. The four-star prospect is a long, fluid athlete. The Lake Taylor defensive end/tight end made several big plays. On offense, he caught a touchdown and a two-point conversion. He also blocked extremely well. Defensively, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Holmes was equally impressive. He fired off the ball and did a good job using his hands to shed defenders. Holmes also runs very well and does nice a job playing under control and pursuing the football. While he could play either side of the ball at the college level, I think best suited to play defensive end because it is his most natural position. Holmes must continue to get stronger and add weight. Once he gets into college strength and conditioning program, he could easily add 40-50 pounds to his frame. He has 14 scholarship offers and that number will continue to grow over the next several months. Holmes is just scratching the surface of his potential.
