"It was great," Okonkwo said. "I got the chance to meet the players and coaches and develop some good friendships. We went to a basketball game, looked at the facilities and then I checked out the dorms."
The official to Nevada is the first of a total of four for Okonkwo. He says he will officially visit New Mexico on Jan. 11th and also official to Boise State and Fresno State shortly after while also fitting in an unofficial visit to San Diego State. He broke down a little about each of the programs he's considering:
"Boise State has a great tradition. They don't just recruit anybody. You have to be a student-athlete, not just an athlete for them to recruit you, so I like that about them."
"San Diego State is great because they run with five db's and that gives me a better chance to be on the field."
"Fresno State is close enough to home where my family can see me play but I can still get the away feeling and they have a good program."
"I actually know a couple players on New Mexico so I like that and it will be nice to go there and talk to them."
So when can we expect a decision and what will it come down to?
"I'm going to make it sooner than later, very soon," he said. "Pretty much what team starts to stand out with things like the family atmosphere, traditions, chemistry between teammates and the coaches."
