Former 5-Star on the Move?

Delvon Simmons

Scout has learned that Texas Tech defensive lineman Delvon Simmons has been granted a transfer release.


Delvon Simmons (6'5/290) started all 13 games for Texas Tech's defensive line in 2012, but he's looking for a new home in 2013. Texas Tech has granted his request to transfer with the stipulation that he doesn't stay in state and doesn't follow his former coaching staff to Cincinnati.

Simmons a 5-Star recruit in the Class of 2011 is scheduled to visit USC this weekend, and the Trojans look to the be front runners. Also in contention are Miami, Pittsburgh, and Penn State.

Simmons was the Nation's No. 3 ranked defensive tackle prosepct in the Class of 2011 out of McKeesport, Pa.
