USC quarterback Cody Kessler led the Trojans to their first win in Corvallis (Ore.) since 2004 on Friday night.

The redshirt sophomore threw one touchdown pass - 71 yards to Marqise Lee - in the Trojans 31-14 win.

Kessler finished the night 17-of-21 for 247 yards. He threw one interception, returned 41 yards for an Oregon State touchdown, which tied the game at 14 in the second quarter.

USC interim head coach Ed Orgeron commended the Trojans and Kessler for their ability to "keep their heads up" and recover from the misstep in the hostile environment.

"There was a belief in the locker room before the game, at halftime, during the game," Orgeron said after the game. "We threw the interception for the touchdown but came back and scored. There was like a sense of tightening the strings a little bit, but our guys fought, came back and i thought that was a very good learning moment for our team. It was about the team effort."
