"I am going to USC," said Wright. "I think it offers me the best opportunity and I'm looking forward to playing for Pete Carrol." Wright, who starred at both running back and corner this year for the Colton Yellowjackets, will play corner for the Trojans.
It was hard to judge the players, especially the quarterbacks, on such a cold, rainy and windy afternoon. Here are a couple players who stood out though, despite the poor conditions.
C.J. Gable - showed a lot of speed and toughness. Not extremely big but attacks the defender in a way that reminds us of Justin Fargas. No matter which side of the ball he ends up on in college he should be an impact guy.
Derek Simmons and Alex Parsons - the two incoming Trojan defensive tackles looked very, very good. Early in the game they both made big plays and they spent a lot of time in the Florida backfield all day. Derrick Hill was pretty good too, they would make a terrific trio if Hill wasn't likely headed to Cal, but it's clear the Trojans got a very good pair in Simmons and Parsons. Derek is very athletic for his size while Alex was showing a lot of emotion on the field and on the sidelines firing up his teammates.
Shareece Wright - Not only did Shareece play well on the field but he represented well during his announcement to USC with family members and friends all decked out in Trojan gear.
C.J. Spiller - He only had a couple chances to really show what he could do but it's clear that he's a terrific talent.
Ken Ashley - Another extremely hard runner. He plays with a lot of intensity.
As a side note, when talking to California offensive players about who stood out in practice this week for the defense there were two names that stood out; Allen Bradford and Travis Goethel. Bradford received a lot of praise for his hitting while Goethel was running guys down with his speed.
