Support Ryan Davidson and "Team Trojan"

Davidson with Anthony Davis

Many readers of this website have followed the story the past few years of Ryan Davidson, the young Trojan fan from Wisconsin who has successfully beaten cancer twice in his lifetime. Click below to read more about how you can help support Ryan as he takes part in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

The letter below is from the Davidson Family

Many of you have followed Ryan's progress in his battle against brain cancer over the past 7 years. It's been a long 7-year battle with many peaks and valleys along the way. But, through it all, we've been very proud of Ryan's outlook and attitude toward beating his illness and enjoying his childhood to the fullest. Much of his enthusiasm comes from the many uplifting cards, e-mails and notes that he's received from so many people sending him well wishes from around the country – and around the world!

In December of last year, Ryan completed his long 18 months of daily chemo treatments which had followed his most recent cancer recurrence two years ago. The report last week from the doctors was that everything looks great and that there is no sign of cancer on the MRI scan. Ironically, yesterday marked the 7th anniversary of his original cancer surgery when he was first diagnosed at age 6.

In Ryan's honor, we have once again assembled "Team Trojan" (nicknamed after his favorite football team – the USC Trojans) and will be walking next weekend in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life in Sun Prairie. Ryan has set a personal goal of raising $1,500 this year. If he does, he has offered to shave his head in honor of the other kids who are currently undergoing chemo treatments. I asked him if he was sure he wanted to shave off all of his hair since it had just grown back. He quickly replied, "It's worth it!" Who can argue with that?

We know that there are a number of Relay For Life events held around the country that many of you support. If you would like to contribute to Ryan's fundraising campaign, there is a web site (complete with a picture of Ryan in the USC locker room after last year's UCLA victory) that you can visit and make an online contribution. The web site address is: Click here to support Ryan Davidson

If you prefer to mail him a check, please send it to our home at:

1823 Corinth Drive
Sun Prairie, WI 53590

Note: checks must be received no later than Thursday, July 20 and should be made out to American Cancer Society.

At last year's event Ryan needed to be pushed around the track in a wheelchair by his friends because he was too weak from the chemo to walk for too long. This year, six months after his chemo treatments have ended, he is pretty much back in full stride and doing great. We look forward to watching him walk many miles with his friends around the track with his trademark smile plastered across his face.

We appreciate your ongoing support.
