Mustain visits USC

Mitch Mustain

Former Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain, who started eight games as a freshman for the Razorbacks before announcing that he will look to transfer, paid a visit to the USC campus this week and will look to make a decision on his future college home by May.

Mustain, who was considered one of the top prep players in the nation in 2005, was considered the jewel of the Arkansas recruiting class last year after leading nearby Springdale HS to the state title. He and several of his Springdale teammates enrolled at Arkansas only to be caught up in a strange soap opera-type situation that involved promises made about the offensive system, the hiring of Springdale High coach as the Hogs OC and covert meetings with a legendary athletic director. When all was said and done, Mustain (along with Springdale teammate and fellow Arkansas freshman Damian Williams), announced that they would be leaving and transferring to other schools.

Williams ended up at USC in time for the 2007 spring semester and now Mustain will consider the Trojans as one of his potential destinations.

"Just from an aesthetic standpoint I love being here," Mustain told the LA Times. "The business part of it is football and they've got a proven history with Coach Sarkisian developing quarterbacks — even their backups are successful. I think it says a lot about what they have here and the system they have."
