USC Coaching Clinic

The fourth annual USC Football and Nike Coach of the Year Southern California Coaches Clinic, offering expertise for football coaches on all levels, will be held March 23 and 24 at USC.

On March 23, participants will observe USC’s 4 p.m. spring football practice, then enjoy a 6 p.m. catered dinner at the Galen Dining Center (the football team’s training table) before spending the rest of the evening with USC head coach Pete Carroll and the Trojan football staff. Carroll will give an introductory talk, followed by roundtables, film review and breakout sessions with the USC offensive and defensive coaches. A coaches social hour concludes the evening. Registration that day begins at 3 p.m. in Heritage Hall.

Speakers on March 24 include collegiate head coaches Mike Stoops of Ariziona, Mike Price of UTEP, Greg Robinson of Syracuse and Rocky Long of New Mexico, plus special teams coach Shawn Slocum of the Green Bay Packers and USC strength and conditioning coach Chris Carlisle. Also speaking will be high school CIF Championship coaches Jim Kunau (Orange Lutheran), Ed Croson (Birmingham) and Kendrick Knox (Verbum Dei) and national championship youth level coach Dean Pliaconis (El Segundo Youth Football). Registration for that day begins at 7:15 a.m. in USC’s Davidson Conference Center (corner of Figueroa and Jefferson), with the lecture session running from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Noon lunch that day will be held in the Founders Club of USC’s new Galen Center (basketball and volleyball arena).

Cost of the clinic is $135 for both days or $100 for one day. Included in the cost is dinner on March 23 and lunch on March 24. The clinic sold out the past three years, so attendees are encouraged to sign up soon.
