Clay DeLeon of SCPlayBook spent time after practice getting the thoughts from John David Booty to see how he was progressing through this week of practice.

Recovering from the Stanford Defeat

"It definitely took a day, to understand what really happened, but Coach Carroll is one of the best coaches the game. This same group of guys, it's happened to before, we can see the season that we can have bouncing back from those kind of losses.

I think the guys are ready to go. We'll get back on the field and show the country we really can play."

Update on Thumb and Playing on Saturday

"I really don't know yet; it's still day to day, I've been throwing a little bit and taking some snaps. There is some pain there, but if I feel I can throw the ball accurately and good velocity, I'll be fine. The pain I can deal with. If I am not able to play the type of football I want to play, then I probably won't go."

Will He Play Without Practicing?

"I don't know yet. I'd like to get in tomorrow if I can. I'm doing everything the trainers are telling me to do. I want to be out there as bad as anybody, but I'm not going to put myself out there where I'll be hurting our team in any way."

Continuing the thought, he said, "I am feeling the same as yesterday, just icing it all day, trying to get the swelling down. I still have some stiffness in there, just trying to work all of that out."

Coach's Decision

"At game time, if it's feeling good, I'll tell him (Coach Carroll). Once we get close to game time, I'm sure he'll have a decision made in his mind, if I'm there or not. I'm not sure what he'll decide."

Not Fully Participating in Practice

Not since 2005 has Booty had to sit on the sideline. "It's frustrating; it's frustrating. I've waited so long to be where I am these last two years. It means so much for me with this team and this group of guys, to not be out there, it's frustrating."

Winners Credited, Losers Blamed - Does He Listen to the Criticism?

"I understand where they are coming from, I have two older brothers - I've grown up watching how that works. They were on teams that were as successful as we are here, and I know at the next level it only gets worse. You're paid to do your job and you're not doing it, they're booing you even more.

It's just something you have to deal with. It's part of life and part of being a quarterback at a high level. It's all part of the job. I understand how it works, and that's the life that I live."

Booty's Rehabilitation Effort

"If you force the issue it could take you even longer to get healthy. I don't want to continue to push myself further and further back."

Is the last two days enough recovery time?

"I don't know, I don't have that answer. I am waiting to see. I didn't throw the ball today."
