Another sunny day in Southern California. As the team had an afternoon workout, one couldn't help but think, this is the best way to spend an afternoon, sitting in the sun watching the Trojans with off-season conditioning. Read more inside. | |||

USC Tuesday Workout March 3, 2008 Coaches, Corp and Colbert It was another warm afternoon, and sitting in the sun at Howard Jones – Brian Kennedy Field was quite enjoyable. The coaches had a nice half-hour work out with the team, sans equipment. Keary Colbert was all smiles as he enjoys his newly signed contract with the Denver Broncos and Aaron Corp had a nice afternoon. Coaches Drills The team had an intense workout with their respective position coaches. Today’s workout was a little more focused and directed as the coaches and players settled into the routine. Most of the time was spent with agility drills and exercises. Curtis ‘Moody’ McNeal was in attendance, spending time on the defense side of the ball during exercises (coaches period) then moving over to the offensive end of the field after the coaches exited the field. How refreshing it was to seeTravon Patterson on the field. Patterson was cleared for participation on Monday and spent much of today with the receiving corps. Before falling to injury last season, Patterson displayed a lot of promise on the field. THROW AROUND Full Team (11-on-11’s) When full team throw-around got underway, Mark Sanchez continued to lead the team through workouts. Sanchez, started off with completed passes to Anthony McCoy and Ronald Johnson.
Aaron Corp got into the action, handing off to Broderick Green for a nice gain. He also threw a completed pass to C.J. Gable and handed off to Joe McKnight for a nice gain. During his rotation, Mitch Mustain, completed medium range pass to McCoy. McCoy seems ready to step into Mackey Award winner Fred Davis’ shoes. 7-on-7’s During 7-on-7’s Sanchez threw a pass to Stanley Havili in the flat for a touchdown and Ronald Johnson also caught a touchdown pass. Odds and Ends
Alex Parsons worked the center position today, snapping to all of the quarterbacks. Parsons could be the number two center in back of Kristofer O'Dowd.
Rey Maualuga is down to his normal playing weight of 255 lbs., down from the 273 lbs. he reported being at the Rose Bowl.
Keary Colbert was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, beaming over his new contract with the Denver Broncos. SCPlaybook met with Colbert to discuss his contract and future plans. We will have a more on this tomorrow.
There were a couple of recruiting prospects observing practice and we spoke with Byron Moore from Nathaniel Narbonne High School (Harbor City). The wide receiver/safety is interested in USC. We will have a full report on Moore soon.
