The Trojans conducted their first full scrimmage of spring in front of hundreds of fans at Howard Jones field. SCPlaybook was there and caught up with USC Head Coach Pete Carroll after Sunday’s scrimmage to get his thoughts on the quarterback situation, Allen Bradford and much more.

Pete Carroll on Sunday’s scrimmage:

“This was really our first scrimmage so I am really pleased. We got about eighty plays in and everybody played, everybody competed so we will have a bunch of good stuff to look at.”

Pete Carroll on the play of the quarterbacks:

“I thought it was hard on Mark (Sanchez), the first sequence is against the first defense. He struggled a little bit but then he got going and looked very much in command and knew what he was doing. He did a real nice job in the sudden change taking them down here and scoring. Mitch (Mustain) was the beneficiary of two big bombs against the second group but he did make the plays. Still a lot of stuff that he’s got to learn, lots of stuff he’s got to pick up but he looked good. Mitch can make plays, there is no doubt about it.”

Pete Carroll on Aaron Corp:

“I thought he did a solid job. I thought he did a real nice job. He’s really doing fine; he’s coming along just fine. He understands what’s going on, he’s moving well. He’s protecting the football well so I think he’s making good progress.”

Pete Carroll on Taylor Mays hit on Anthony McCoy:

“He knocked himself out a little bit over there. He’s a little woozy right now and Anthony is feeling it too after practice. It was a big hit. It was a great throw by Mark, great catch by Anthony (McCoy), great hit by Taylor and the offense won on the play. That was a beautiful football play.”

Pete Carroll on Allen Bradford’s 73-yard TD run:

“He’s had a couple big plays in spring so far. He got a great chance there. We were running a blitz and he popped it and showed his speed. There was no chance that anybody was going to catch him.”
