Jenks HS (OK) cornerback, Gabe Lynn, has been one of the most sought after recruits in the 2009 class, receiving offers from many of the top college football programs from across the nation, but the five-star cornerback was surprised when he recently received an offer from the USC Trojans.

“I was surprised because they weren’t a school that was looking at me or anything,” Lynn said about USC. “Coach Norton called and I talked with him and he said they were very interested and that’s when he told me that they were going to offer me.

“I got a call first and then Coach Brennan Carroll came by my school and dropped off the paper.”

Lynn admits that he isn’t very familiar with the USC program but he has been very impressed with everything that he has seen from the Trojans and Pete Carroll.

“That’s what I like a lot, the fact that he seems like a player's coach,” Lynn said of USC Head Coach Pete Carroll. “Just from seeing him on TV it seems like he gets along good with the players and the players really enjoy him. I want to be in a program like that, where everything just fits like that and works out good.

“From what I know they have a great program there. They win every year and they play in big games. They are a real consistent team.”

After the visit from USC, Lynn has now received offers from USC, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Miami, Arkansas, Nebraska, North Carolina and Tennessee among others.

Lynn says that while he has interest in the local schools (Oklahoma State and Oklahoma) he wants to take visits and compare them to the Cowboys and Sooners in the hopes of coming to a decision before the end of summer.

“I want to visit some schools. Hopefully I am able to get to some schools and just look at stuff and make a decision this summer,” Lynn explained.

The 6-1, 180-pound cornerback doesn’t have any plans set but he hopes to make it out to Los Angeles to visit the USC campus this summer.

“They are a top program every year, so they are definitely up there and you definitely have to look at them,” Lynn said of USC. “That’s why I want to get down there this summer and see what they are about.

“I’m going to go wherever I feel comfortable. The best place that fits me is where I am going to end up no matter how far or close it is.”
