USC Recruiting Update: Alshon Jeffrey
Catching up with Alshon Jeffrey
Alshon Jeffrey contacted SCPlaybook today to discuss his commitment to the Trojans. Jeffrey was upbeat and thrilled about his commitment.
After speaking with his coaches yesterday, Jeffrey decided to call SCPlaybook to discuss his commitment. He was excited to have been offered by the Trojans and even more so to commit to his dream school.
Said Jeffrey, “It’s a great feeling to be committed to the Trojans. I have always liked the program, and watched them growing up. I liked Reggie Bush, but even before that, I liked Mike Williams and Carson Palmer.”
We asked if Mike Williams is someone he patterns himself after. He replied, “I really want to be ‘me,’ I want to be better than Mike Williams.”
When asked what his thought process was for picking USC, he said, “I looked at some scouting reports on teams and where big receivers go, and Southern Cal is a good place. I can compete right away.”
He talked about his summer plans, “Right now, my focus is on the (USC) Rising Stars Camp.” After the summer he said he will take an official visit, and will try to make it to the USC-Ohio State game at the Coliseum.
About the Trojan coaching staff, Jeffrey stated, “I’ve talked with Coach (Pete) Carroll, but I’ve talked a lot with Coach (John) Morton and also Brennan Carroll.”
In closing, Jeffrey commented on his cousin, “I recently found out that Damario Jeffrey is my cousin. He is a distant relative, but if he commits to the Trojans, it would be fun to play together. He’s a big hitter from Columbia, SC. Maybe he will commit to USC.”
SCPlaybook will keep you updated on Alshon Jeffrey and his cousin, Damario Jeffrey.
