Frankie Telfort – OLB – 6-0, 205 – Gulliver Prep HS (FL)
Scout Ranking: #15 Weak-Side Linebacker

Another out of state player that Pete Carroll was able to lure to the West Coast was speedy linebacker Frankie Telfort from Gulliver Prep in Miami, Florida. Telfort is a very intriguing prospect that will play weak-side linebacker at USC. Pete Carroll said Telfort is the fastest linebacker that they have ever recruited at USC and is very excited about his potential. The versatile linebacker was always around the ball and racked up an amazing 163 tackles as a senior in high school.

Telfort is a very intelligent player and Carroll said his understanding of defensive schemes is what separates him from other high school linebackers.

According to Carroll: "He's very, very fast. He ran under 4.4 a couple of weeks ago at his workouts. He's so explosive and is such a feisty kid. He's a kid that led their football team as the playcaller on defense. He's got an enormous understanding of defensive football and adjustments that would knock you out. Like way beyond anybody we've ever talked to about understanding how to make checks and audibles and how to change defenses. He talks like he's a junior or senior in college and maybe even more than that."

Reason for Choosing USC: "The thing I like about USC is they have a great linebacker coach that sent all four of his linebackers to the NFL this past year. Ken Norton is a very prestigious coach, and he's been everywhere that a young linebacker wants to be. I feel that he is one of the best in the whole game."

Chose USC Over: Florida, Stanford, Ohio State, Clemson, Wake Forest

Future Impact: At just 205 pounds, Telfort will need to put on weight in USC's strength and conditioning program, but has the speed and intelligence to become a playmaker in the near future. Telfort is an interesting prospect with a ton of upside.
