Reggie Bush commits to USC
Reggie Bush - Trojan
Reggie Bush - Trojan

Posted Jan 5, 2003

Helix HS running back Reggie Bush, ranked as the #3 RB in the nation by TheInsiders and #1 on the West coast, has announced that he will be a Trojan.

Bush confirmed his commitment during the National All-Star football game today in San Antonio.

At this point just over a month ago Bush was not really considering SC and was generally thought to be choosing from Notre Dame and Stanford. Then he visits the Coliseum for the game against the Irish and is impressed enough with the Trojans to start taking a long look. By all accounts this is a serious young man and once he started paying more attention to USC he liked what he saw. Reggie scheduled a quick visit, he began talking about what a big impact the Trojan track program could have on his decision and now comes the news that he has committed.

Bush is known as a speed back (finished #2 at the CA state track meet last year in the 100 with a 10.42, also finished #3 in the 200) who has great lateral moves to go along with terrific hands.  Bush, who has been named to the USA Today All-America team, rushed for 4,925 yards and scored 450 points during a three-year career in which the Highlanders won two CIF-San Diego Section Division II championships and compiled an overall 36-3 record.

He joins Chauncey Washington as a RB verbal in this class.
