Three days after taking an official visit to USC and two days after telling Scout.com his commitment to UCLA was solid, DE Marquis Jackson from College of the Canyons gave a verbal commitment to USC.
"Yes, I committed to USC," said Jackson. "Something came up at UCLA and I had to find another school. And it will probably be a blessing because I really do want to play with my brother.
Jackson said he learned of the development with UCLA at about 11:30 a.m. and that's when he got together with his family, including his brother and USC defensive lineman, Malik Jackson, to discuss his desire to join his brother at USC.
"I wanted my brother to be a part of the discussion because I didn't want him to think I was intruding on his territory. He's been there for two years and wanted to make sure he was okay with it. He's happy for me. He wants me to go wherever I want.
"And it's not like USC is a second choice for me. I really like USC, the coaches and I'm looking forward to being there. Not many people have an option to attend a school like USC."
In the next few days Jackson said he's going to get USC all of his paperwork/transcripts and begin the process of becoming a signee, not just a verbal commit.
