Soma Vainuku from Eureka, Calif. had planned on taking an official visit to Oregon State this weekend, but he and his family had a talk about which school Vainuku really felt the strongest about, and he said it was always USC.
"He made his decision today, signed his letter-of-intent and faxed it to USC," said Soma's mother. "They were really happy about it.You know Soma was always USC, so today we sat down as a family after many stressful phone calls, and we asked Soma if anything had changed with USC, and he said no.
My husband and I made the decision if Soma isn't interested in any other schools like USC, then we shouldn't waste people's time in talking to them. So we had him sign so he can focus on school and USC."
Vainuku received his letter-of-intent today from USC and said he contacted the coaches at 6 p.m. and then faxed the letter to Heritage Hall.
"I'm glad the process is over and I look forward getting to USC," said Soma Vainuku. It's a been a dream of mine to go to USC since I was a little kid."
