USC freshman defensive end Everson Griffen was selected to the Football Writers of America Association Freshman All-American Team. Griffen, who was rated the number one recruit in the 2007 class by Scout.com, lived up to all the hype and was a major contributor for the Trojans defense this season.
The 6-3, 265-pound defensive end from Avondale, AZ had a solid start to the season but really exploded on to the national scene when he recorded 3.5 sacks in the Trojans 24-3 victory over Oregon State.
On the year Griffen recorded 21 tackles and 5.5 sacks for the Rose Bowl Champion USC Trojans.
