Biography:
The only returning tailback in 2003, Hershel Dennis started all 13 games in the backfield for the Trojans. Dennis displayed wonderful maturity for a sophomore by sharing the backfield with the talented incoming freshman and still making the most of every one of his 137 carries. His 661 rushing yards ranked second on the team and he added ten receptions for 62 yards while scoring five total touchdowns. His best game of the season came at Washington, where he logged 98 yards rushing and a ten yard reception. Dennis will return in 2004 as the starting tailback and serve as the first wave of attack against the opposing defense. His vision to spot the holes and speed to get to the corner make any running play available with Dennis in the backfield.
