| Could play both ways in college, but more likely projects to defensive back, where he's versatile enough to play either safety spot or cornerback. Had 610 yards on 35 receptions and four touchdowns as a receiver. Father, Mike, played football at UCLA for Dick Vermeil and was a lineman on the 1975 Rose Bowl champions.
Notre Dame HS coach Kevin Rooney's comments:
"A starter since day 1 on varsity (2 years). 2 consecutive years all league. Had 5 interceptions as a sophomore playing corner opposite Cary Harris (USC). Played safety his junior season. An excellent tackler on defense & a very, very tough player who played through injuries all through his junior season, never letting up. On offense, Shane is an excellent route runner with great hands and very good speed. Also an excellent special teams player and a devastating hitter." |
